How to Reduce Voltage Drops on a DC24V LED Pixel String

LED pixels are a great way to add some extra sparkle to your displays. However, one thing that people tend to forget is that they are consuming power and that means voltage drops are a real issue. There are many factors that can and will impact the voltage drop including the total length of the strip, the distance between pixels, the gauge of wire used, and even things like the number of connections from the PSU to the first pixel.

In this article we are going to look at a few ways you can reduce these voltage drops and get the most out of your pixels. One of the most common methods of doing this is by using a technique called power injection. This is the process of running extra wires next to your pixel strip and injecting power in between each pixel. This can be a bit tricky but if done correctly can significantly improve the reliability of your display.
