Choosing a 36v LED Transformer
Choosing a 36v LED Transformer
If you are planning to install LED strip lighting in your home, you will need a 36v led transformer. This is important, as the power of your LED strip will vary depending on its length. Some LED strips can be plugged directly into the mains, but this is not possible with every product. If you want to be able to use your LED strip for as long as possible, we recommend using a power supply with a high IP protection class.
The IP rating is a standard that indicates how resistant the electrical equipment is against water and dust. It is important to choose an appropriate IP rating for your LED strip power supply, since moisture can cause damage to the electrical equipment. The best way to determine the IP rating of your LED transformer is to look at its label or the product information. The first number reflects how dust resistant the product is, while the second number indicates how waterproof it is.
Another factor to consider when choosing a LED strip power supply is its temperature stability. LEDs are very sensitive to temperature and can quickly start to get dim or burn out if they are exposed to extreme temperatures. It is therefore essential that the LED strip power supply is capable of adjusting its output current in response to changing ambient temperatures.
This can be done by using a switching regulator (also known as a "DC-to-DC" or "buck" converter), but these are expensive and complex units. A simpler alternative is to use a current regulator, but this is not as accurate and requires some electrical engineering skillz.
